What is Dry Ice?

Dry ice is a solid form of carbon dioxide, a gas that we breathe out and is found in the Earth's atmosphere. Unlike regular ice, dry ice doesn't melt into a liquid, but instead sublimates or changes directly from a solid to a gas. It is extremely cold, at a temperature of -78.5°C (-109.3°F), and is commonly used for refrigeration and transportation of perishable items as well as for special effects in entertainment industry.
